Volunteering- The Networking Gold Card

Should I consider volunteering to build up my networking contacts since I'm unemployed and have all this extra time? If so, what kind of volunteering is best for purposes of networking?

Good questions. The answers may surprise you. But first, let me share a volunteering experience of my friend, Frank.

Some years ago, Frank and his wife, Terri, decided to volunteer at their church to help the tape ministry. So each week, they simply duplicated sermon tapes after the services and sold them on behalf of their pastor and church.
